we used to let our dog have free run of the house 24/7

if you properly train the dog, there should be no wetting of the bed.

My Dog roams free of the house 24/7. He wakes me up if he has to go out, no matter what time. He even sleeps on the bed with me.

All three of my dogs are in an extra bedroom specifically for confining them during the day. One is in a cage, one is in a playpen, and the third gets the rest of the room.
I let them sleep with me. They have since shortly after I got them, and they have never peed in the bed.

My dog roams free. We used to keep her crate in the house for when we were out, but she has been housebroken since the third day we had her, and unless she’s ill, she would never do her business inside! She’s 11 years old now.

I let my dogs roam free, while I am home.. I let them sleep on the bed or the couch or where ever they want. My puppy? She sleeps in the crate at night still.. When I feel ready to leave her out.. she’ll get the chance just like everyone else to sleep where ever she wants..

We crate trained our dogs. At night and when we left the house for short periods of time and only if we couldn’t take them with us, the dogs went into their crates. Once they were trained they were given free range.
edited to repond to your addtional info: The greatest thing about dogs is they know when they’ve messed up. Shortly after our dog being trained, we had to leave for about an hour. When we came home, there was no happy dog greeting us at the door. We found her under our bed. We got her out, but she wouldn’t look at us and her tail was between her legs. We knew.

I only put my dogs in their cage when I go out…we live in an apartment and that stops them from barking at every noise they hear…otherwise they are out in the house all day… they sleep with me too!

When I am not home, my dog is crated.
At night time, she sleeps in her bed on the floor, next to her crate.
She does not roam free when I’m not home for many reasons:
1. She has severe separation anxiety
2. Will (and has) destroy the house
3. Will urinate every where (She has done this also)
4. Will eat something deadly
My dog has done all these things. The ONE time I tested her to see how she’d do, she ******** on my bed, ripped into the fish food/dechlorinator.
Tore up some stuff.
She has eaten a phone cord, her bed, and a door frame.
So it’s safest for her to be in her crate!
Plus, I rent and I can’t afford for her to destroy the property that doesn’t belong to me!!

Mine are free to roam the house all the time,as they are housebroken and not puppies,so they don’t chew anything. They sleep wherever they want to,but not on my bed ( the cats sleep there) Only untrained puppies and dogs should be crated, and only when neccessary.

free roam 24/7
all three of are dogs are totally potty trained and don’t destroy things. We did crate train all the dogs though, and when they were accident free we would then put the crate up.

I have 2 Dobies and 1 Poodle and 1 Shitzu and they all have free run of the house and back yard. We put in a doggie door for them and we do not have any trouble with them messing up in the house.Plus they need human interaction all the time so they will bond with you and then they will be good and want to please you.

im lucky and i have a large fenced yard so i just leave my dogs out. if im just going to be gone for an hour, i might leave the more calmer dogs inside.

the 15 lb puppy is crated at night and when we’re not home. not because she’s not housebroken (which she is), but because i have 3 100 lb and 1 40lb dog loose in the house.
January 9th, 2009 at 10:04 ami’m afraid if they play too rough unsupervised she’ll get hurt.

My older dogs are free 27/7 while the young one is still confined to a crate if I leave and is tied to the wall next to my bed at night. When she completely learns the rules of the house she will eventually be given the same privileges as the other two. All of my dogs have been trained the same way. They all start in crates… graduate to sleeping out at night in a confined manor and eventually just free to be part of the home.
January 12th, 2009 at 2:23 pmOut of the two older dogs. One of them sleeps on the bed until I come to bed and then she moves onto the floor on my husbands side of the bed. The other one sleeps on my side at the food of the bed under the covers.

I never worry about my dogs roaming anywhere in my home. They are all trained. Dont quite understand your question. If you are afraid your dog will **** and *** in the house, why dont you train it?

I have two dogs that I raised from puppyhood and they’ve never been crated. They would never pee/poop in the house.
I have intact boys that I got as adults. They can be good for months and then have an accident so I keep them gated off. They each have about 6×4 feet.

Both my dogs sleep on my bed and both have free run of the house. Neither one has ever peed on my bed and haven’t messed in the house since they were completely house trained.

If they are housebroken they should not go in the house. Ours in only nine months old. He roams free during the day and if we are making a quick trip to town. He sleeps in my room at night. If we leave for an expended period he is put in his crate. He has slept in our room for about four months and has never gone to the bathroom in there or on the bed. When the kids go back to school after summer break when he is over a year we are going to see how he does roaming free at night.
