What are dog names in the Philippines?

well i’m getting a male dog and a female dog soon and i wanna give them a pinoy name since i used to live in the philippines and i just wanna make myself feel like i’m back in the philippines. so yeah. i have some names in mind like Kiko (which my mom told me is a nickname for anyone named Francisco) and Pogi for the boy. and Ganda for the girl. but i just wanna see if there are anymore names i could choose from.

I can think of “Bantay” and “Tagpi.”
Most Filipinos now prefer “Americanized” names for their dogs. My own dogs’ names are Pepper & Whiskey. I also had a dog once named Shadow and our female Dalmatian was called Dalma. Our current dog is named Kenshin, after Samurai X.
Maybe you can call your female dog Diyosa. Or Dyesebel. Or other famous Filipino characters. My cousin once named her cat Darna.

If your dog is a bit fat you can call it:
1. Malusog (healthy)
2. Batchoy
3. Taba
all of which indicated fatness
Some doggy pinoy names you can use are :
Bantay (guard), Bagsik (Fierce), Butsokoy, Pangit (ugly - for ugly but cute looking dogs), Bibo (pinoy brand name of hotdog also means energetic)…

To help you remember that “Philippine feeling” at a foreign land, I suggest these names for your dog. Names like, pangga or palangga (dear), mahal (loved), sikat (famous), bituin (star), sobra (excess), tambok or tabatsoy (fat), igat or kiat (flirty-female), kidlat (lightning), kulog (thunder), ulan (rain), bagyo (thunderstorm), hangin (wind), kutitap (twinkle), etc..
