Why does my dog bring my shoes to my bed when I’m not home?
April 16th, 2009
jessie asked:
She doesn’t bite them up…she just brings it onto my bed. Today, I came home to find SIX shoes on my bed, five of which were mine. Mine weren’t bitten up, but she did chew up my mom’s shoe. Why is this? And how can I stop this??

if this happens when you are away, it is possible she misses you and doesnt know what to do when you are away? i suggest putting your shoes in the closet or somewhere she can not get to them

Well you could smack her with one and say NO!!! maybe she misses you, does your mom correct her the most?? My mom and dad had a doberman along time ago and she wouldn’t bother my dad’s stuff at all, my mom was the one that would correct her and OMG she’d listen.. One year she got into our christmas tree, boy she tore the packages and paper all up.. She got in big trouble.. SO it could be your mom scolds the dog more than anyone? Who knows…

Put them in the closet or a room she can’t reach them!

If you tell your dog when it is still young ,this is mine and that is yours, and have something that is yours there and something that you tell them is theres and do it with other thing,s a round your house they will understand and award them with a treat .soon they will leave your things alone. I have train every dog I have had and it works, and once they understand they will never for get ! Thank You Duane Moon

Dogs grow very attached to their owners and when you leave the dog can smell your scent in shoes, clothing, tissues and toilet paper. They collect these things and spread them around so that other dogs know that they are there and that you are not to be messed with.sometimes the dogs will rip up tissues and books and spread them out, this becomes very annoying and a way you can stop it is to leave these items set up high, in an area the dog can not go in, or simply not reach.
also, shoes smell very strongly of you, if you put them in a closet or a closed in area that has a wooden door on it the dog may scratch up the door to get to them.

The reason why they do this is because when your away, they miss you, therefore they love you.
April 30th, 2009 at 1:58 pmthey tend to do this to any item of clothing that belongs to you.
They like the smell of you on the shoes, it reminds him/her of you. When he is reminded by the smell, he feels safer.
Come on! i didn’t read the otehr answers, i’m only 10!

She is probably a herding dog. They are known for bringing you your slippers and shoes. Put your shoes up, so she can’t get them. Or shelties bring their toys to the door for us so when we come home there is a pile of doggie toys for us.
